ISME has called for the abolition of Small Industry Forum. The organisation said that the Forum had no impact on the major business decisions of the day, such as Government expenditure, public sector pay, the profitability of small firms or the competitiveness of the economy. ISME wants full social partnership status for the small firm sector to replace the Forum. It said that both Fianna Fail and the PD's committed themselves to this when in opposition. It argued that the pending NESC Report titled Investment in Ireland provides a cogent argument for the inclusion of small business in the social partnership.
