IRFU cancel squad sessions

The first three proposed training sessions for the Irish international squad, due to start tomorrow, have been cancelled.

In line with an agreement between the English clubs and the English Rugby Union, the IRFU had likewise intended to bring the international squad together at the Aer Lingus grounds each Wednesday but after the English had called off their first three Wednesday sessions, the Irish have done the same.

This follows a successful appeal by the English clubs to the English Union to have their first three Wednesday sessions cancelled due to the intensity of the early season programme. Thus, both England and Ireland will begin their weekly midweek sessions on Wednesday, September 17th. On international weeks, the Irish squad will come together on the Tuesday, and henceforth will stay in Killiney.
