The Irish Amateur Swimming Association (IASA) last night issued a statement to explain the organisation's silence on the "the Michelle De Bruin situation". The statement read: "In response to media requests for interviews with the Irish Amateur Swimming Association regarding the Michelle de Bruin situation. The IASA as a member of the Federation Internationale De Nation Amateur (FINA) must follow their laws.

In the absence of a positive result, the IASA fully supports Michelle and will do whatever it can to assist Michelle in following FINA procedures. Until further information is provided to the IASA by FINA, we are not in a position to comment further."
