A well-taken goal by centre back Charlie Harrison late in the second half sparked out-of-sorts Sligo into action at St Attracta's Grounds, Tubbercurry, yesterday. Adrian Marren's free-kick had brought Sligo level at 0-8 apiece before Harrison struck.

Noel McGuire opened the scoring with a Sligo point in the 14th minute but after Alan Daly popped over a similar score for Clare two minutes later the Banner's second-string side took control.

Clare didn't field their senior side because of their involvement in the O'Byrne Cup the previous day.

Peadar McMahon, Alan Daly and Pat Foley put the visitors 0-5 to 0-2 ahead at half-time.

Clare were still looking good for victory before Sligo's late rally yielded 1-3 without reply.
