Paul Dunne and Jack Hume well-placed in Stage One qualifying bid

Irish pair lying joint-seventh in Austria as they seek a top-20 spot

Paul Dunne and Jack Hume, the two Irishmen competing in Stage One of European Tour qualifying at Ebreichsdorf in Austria, continued to impress in reaching the midpoint of the tournament tied together in tied-seventh on 139, five-under-par.

Greystones’ Dunne shot a second round 69 which contained six birdies, a double bogey and a bogey to move up the leaderboard, while Hume’s 71 also for 139 saw him slip slightly but remain on target to achieve his aim of moving on to phase two of qualifying which takes place at various venues in Spain in November.

Dunne – who is set to make his pro debut on the European Tour at next week’s Dunhill Links on a sponsor’s invite – and Hume trail midway leader Dodge Kemmer of the United States by six shots. Approximately 20 players from the event in Austria will move on to Stage Two, with the third and final qualifying event set for PGA Catalunya in late November.
