Cavan go on as they finished against Meath - with Armagh hammering

Second half comeback last weekend is followed up by another win at Breffni Park

Cavan 3-18 Armagh 0-10

It was all too easy for Cavan as they trounced a dismal Armagh side in a lop-sided Division Two encounter at an icy cold Kingspan/Breffni Park on Saturday night.

Armagh led by 0-3 to 0-0 after five minutes but the tide turned inexorably in Cavan’s favour in the seventh minute when Seanie Johnston raised a green flag after David Givney caused a nuisance of himself on the edge of the small square.

Eight unanswered points followed from the Breffni blues with the in-form Johnston notching four of them and midfielder Gearoid McKiernan knocking over a brace of frees to boot.

Armagh were their own worst enemies in part, carrying the ball into tackles in the last third and being too indecisive on the ball.

Kieran McGeeney’s team trailed by 0-5 to 1-11 at half-time but goals from Cavan pair Givney and McKiernan in the 54th and 60th minutes respectively added salt to Armagh’s gaping wound.
