Neil Shanahan (Dublin) who scored his sixth race win in the Formula Ford Zetec championship at Mondello last Sunday to win the Ford of Ireland laurels, won the Formula Ford 1600 Championship and the Dunlop Sexton Trophy last year. He campaigned a Van Diemen RF98 this year, again run with great efficiency by Mick Merrigan Motorsport. Shanahan (18) is preparing to go professional racing on the British circuits in 1999.
