The big surprise in the Munster Boys' Open Championship at Shannon yesterday was the achievement of 15-year-old Kenny Fahey (Connemara) in reaching the semi-finals. He was never behind in beating David Rochford (Black bush).

Two members of the Irish international team are into the last four. Gary Wardlow (Shandon Park) beat another international, Alan Harty (West Waterford) and Mark O'Sullivan (Galway) defeated Derek Burns (Tramore).
