Former Republic of Ireland soccer manager Eoin Hand maintained the fine form Irish teams set last week when figuring in the prizes the annual golf day hosted for their clients by the Forte Posthouse Hotel, Dublin Airport, shortly to be known as the Holiday Inn.
Following on the success of Mick McCarthy's senior international team against Holland, Hand did his bit on the golf course by leading his team of Noel Thompson (19), Sean Sandford (24) and Brendan McKenna (17) to a total of 91 stableford points.
The score saw them finish in third place, four points behind the winners. The highlight of Hand's round was an eagle three at the par five 17th which the former international hit with a drive and five-iron.
The winning score of 95 points was returned by the team of Conor Cahill (14), Adrian Williamson (16), John Prendergast (7) and Liam Dunphy (20). They finished one point ahead of the team of Richie McGovern (7), Tim Quigley (15), Frank Farrell (13) and Ingrid Lonergan (28) who had 94 points.
