A marvellous footballing display from corner forward Jarlath Egan helped Garbally College overcome Carrick-on-Shannon Community College at Kiltoom yesterday.
During the first period Garbally had a penalty awarded to them when Jamie Sharkey fouled Egan. Their goalkeeper came forward only to see his opposite number Alan Glancy bring off a great save. However, within a minute, Egan had the ball in the net.
When Willie Feeley awarded Carrick-on-Shannon a penalty 10 minutes into the second half, it was again left to a goalkeeper. On this occasion, Glancy beat his opposite number.
A further score reduced the Garbally lead to just three points. However, a third penalty gave the Ballinasloe students a second chance to goal from a spot-kick and this time Egan made no mistake.
