Dublin County Board officials will consider an appeal to the Disputes Resolution Authority after U21 hurler Peadar Carton was ruled out of the forthcoming All-Ireland final through suspension.
On Thursday night, the GAA's Central Hearings Committee decided to impose an eight-week suspension on Carton, as proposed by the Central Competitions Control Committee.
Carton was originally banned for eight weeks following an incident at Parnell Park during an All-Ireland SHC qualifier on July 7th which left Tipperary defender Paul Curran with a broken jaw.
However, the entire affair became complicated and the case was reprocessed. At Thursday night's CHC rehearing, an eight-week suspension was imposed from the date of Carton's last game, the All-Ireland U21 semi-final clash with Derry last Saturday week. And as things stand, the O'Tooles attacker will miss the final with Galway on September 9th.
A GAA statement read: "The suspension is applicable from the date of his last game and is relevant at the same level and in the same code as the infraction occurred." Carton is still eligible to play club hurling - but is ruled out of all levels of intercounty hurling during the ban.
The DRA is the last available avenue of appeal to Dublin and county board chairman Gerry Harrington said: "We will consider the findings and results and keep our options open as to what, if any, further action we will take."
