KEN DOHERTY, who regards Newport as a happy hunting ground, marched into the last 16 of the Regal Welsh Open with a 5-0 whitewash against Joe Swail.

The Dubliner required only 72 minutes to complete his victory.

Meanwhile, another Dubliner Fergal O'Brien, beat world number three Peter Ebdon 5-4 to also make it to the last 16. O'Brien raced into a 4-1 lead, was pegged back, but with breaks of 38 and 30, controlled the decider to complete a shock result.
