Derry 1-15 Waterford 2-5 Despite dominating the early stages of the game it took a Barry Murray goal 20 seconds into the second half to set up visitors Derry for victory over a determined Waterford side at Dungarvan yesterday.

The winners had seven points to spare at the final whistle, but they also kicked 18 wides.

The winners went in leading by 0-8 to 1-3 at half-time with the Waterford goal coming four minutes into injury time from corner forward Mark Power, after an inch-perfect pass from Karl O'Keeffe.

Derry led by 1-12 to 1-4 entering the final quarter.

But Waterford battled bravely and their efforts were rewarded 10 minutes from the finish when Power had his second goal, a great solo effort.

This left four points between the sides but it was as close as Waterford came, as Derry finished the stronger with three unanswered points in a four- minute spell.
