A last minute goal in extra time from Zanya Dahl earned her Old Alexandra side a place in the quarter-finals of the Sharwood's Irish Senior Cup where they have been drawn at home to Leinster rivals Hermes, the team Dahl played with last season.

Once again Old Alexandra were indebted to Tracey Skoyles who snatched a late equaliser from a short corner against Portadown in normal time at Milltown, a week after she scored the winner against Hermes in the league with the last action of the game.

Trish Conway had given the Dublin side the lead but Jill Orbinson and Wendy Bailey replied with second half goals to put Portadown 2-1 up before Skoyles' late intervention sent the game into extra time.

Hermes reached the last eight with considerably less stress after a 5-0 win away to Ards, with Jenny Burke helping herself to four of the goals, while Muckross had an equally comfortable victory over Ulster opposition at Rathdown where they beat Victorians 4-0. Muckross play Church of Ireland in January's quarter-finals after the Cork team had a superb 2-1 win over Trinity at Garryduff. They will be joined by Harlequins in the last eight, following the Munster league champions' 1-0 win over Belvedere at Farmers' Cross. A year ago Belvedere reached the quarter-finals where they lost 7-0 to Pegasus in Belfast . . . and a trip to Pegasus in Belfast is the less than kind draw Harelquins received yesterday afternoon.
