POC FADA:BRENDAN CUMMINS was once again "King of the Annaverna Mountain" after the Tipperary goalkeeper picked up his sixth M Donnelly All-Ireland Poc Fada title in Cooley on Saturday.
Cummins took silverware, on the “short-course” in 39 pocs, with the usual five-kilometre course not used due to health and safety concerns because of mist on the mountain.
Derry’s Ruairí Convery and Down’s Graham Clarke battled it out for second place, with both finishing on 46 pocs. Convery took second after his final poc finished eight metres ahead of the Down custodian.
Cummins was happy to claim another title, his fifth since 2006.
Cummins also claimed his seventh pairs title, winning the Comórtas Beirte with first time participant Kevin McKernan Jnr. from Antrim. Offaly’s Joe Troy and Ruairí Convery came second.
Once again Patricia Jackman proved to be the “Poc Fada Queen” after the Waterford player took her fourth title, finishing the course in 29 pocs.
Limerick’s Martina McMahon was just one poc adrift for second spot, with Rachel Monaghan of Galway in third.
