Crowe in dominant form

NATIONAL LEAGUE/Cork City...0 Bohemians..

NATIONAL LEAGUE/Cork City...0 Bohemians...3: Bohemians scored twice in the closing 10 minutes to put a flattering look on the scoreline, but there was no disputing their superiority at Turner's Cross yesterday. With the lethal Glen Crowe in devastating form, Bohemians were too strong and capable for Cork.

Crowe scored twice to bring his total from all competitions of the season to 22 and he was denied a third goal in an extraordinary incident after 69 minutes when the score was still 1-0. Crowe burst through to confront goalkeeper Mick Devine but before he could shoot he was pulled from behind by Cork's Stephen Napier. He tumbled just outside the penalty area but the referee waved play on.

Bohemians' goalkeeper Wayne Russell had to make only one save of any significance and that after 58 minutes when he parried a shot from Colin O'Brien.

Cork were the more impressive team for the opening 20 minutes but while O'Brien was always threatening, they failed to take advantage. And when Crowe struck in the 34th minute after goalkeeper Michael Devine had done well to turn away a shot from Dave Morrison, the Dublin side always looked the more likely team.

Bohemians' dominance was established in the second half by their midfield and it was Kevin Hunt who burst through to claim their second in the 80th minute. Crowe again showed how deadly he can be when he volleyed home the third a minute into added time.
