Claremorris golf club will be the venue for the inaugural Connacht Scratch Cup on June 11th. The new 18-hole layout at the Co Mayo venue, which was designed by the late Tom Craddock and which opened for play last July, has already become established as one of the finest parkland courses in the west. The 36-hole event will be open to players with a handicap of five and under.
Michael Keane, a local solicitor and this year's captain of Claremorris, will present a perpetual trophy to the winner while the event will be sponsored by Pat Killeen & Co, Auctioneers and Insurance agents, whose principal officer is scratch player and interprovincial Pat Killeen. Entry forms are available from Martina Gormley - telephone 094 71601.
