Cavan 0-16 UUJ 3-5:SUBSTITUTE MARTIN Dunne stole the show for Cavan on a night they were guilty of some criminal ball-watching as they conceded three eminently preventable goals. Kieran Hughes (12 minutes) and Diarmuid McNulty (29 minutes) goaled as UUJ led by 2-2 to 0-4 after a poor first half.

Things were livelier on the restart as Cavan notched six points to lead by two after 57 minutes.

The sides were level again seven minutes from time when McNulty fired to the Cavan net.

However Cavan finished the stronger and Dane O’Dowd and Gearóid McKiernan put the icing on the cake for the blues.
