Munster Senior Cup semi-final./Castletroy College 23 PBC 22:CASTLETROY caused a huge upset when dumping the holders out of the Munster Senior Cup in a thrilling semi-final at Tom Clifford Park yesterday to book their place in the final for the first time.

The Limerick side were playing in the competition for only the third time but were full value for their win over the 27-time winners.

When Cormac O'Flynn landed an early penalty it seemed PBC were on their way but lock Darragh Frawley soon had Castletroy on terms with a penalty.

Diarmuid McCarthy raced in for the opening try for Castletroy, which Frawley converted to make it 10-3 at the interval.

A Conor Desmond try and O'Flynn conversion on 43 minutes tied the scores, but the PBC outhalf Cormac O'Flynn raced 60 metres for a try, which he also converted, to put his team ahead again.

Frawley landed a penalty for Castletroy after 53 minutes and they reclaimed the lead when a tap penalty by Frawley was finished off by Darren Moroney.

PBC got back in front as lock Joe Coyne touched down to make it 22-17. But three minutes into injury time McCarthy raced from 45 metres for the clinching try.
