MUNSTER JUNIOR CUP:CASTLETROY HAD an anxious few minutes at the end of a closely contested affair in Clonmel before a 14-12 victory over Rockwell College secured a home draw in the next round.

Rockwell scored a last minute try but the promising Bill Johnston, aged only 14, was unable to convert from an angle. Had he done so it would have drawn the game.

Castletroy led after only four minutes when Conor Linehan landed a penalty but a try by Willie Coffey, converted by Johnston, edged Rockwell in front. Four minutes before the interval Castletroy regained the initiative thanks to a well-worked try by backrow Ronan Murphy and his side led 8-7 at the interval.

Penalties by outhalf Linehan in the second and 23rd minutes of the second half had Castletroy 14-7 clear and then came the dramatic finish. With seconds remaining backrow Tommy Anglim got in for a try but it was too far out for Johnston.
