CAMELOT LOOKS set to lead Aidan O’Brien’s attempt at a sixth victory in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster on Saturday.
The champion trainer has four of the nine entries left in the mile Group One event after yesterday’s forfeit stage and significantly they include Camelot who won his sole start to date at Leopardstown in July.
That was enough to have the Montjeu colt towards the top of next year’s Derby betting in ante-post lists yesterday at 16 to 1.
O’Brien has also left in the Royal Lodge winner Daddy Long Legs as well as Learn and the Gowran maiden scorer Tibet in a race he last won with another son of Montjeu, St Nicholas Abbey, two years ago.
His other winners were Brian Boru (2002), High Chaparral (2001), Aristotle (1999) and Saratoga Springs in 1997.
Other Irish interest could come from Jim Bolger’s Zip Top, third in the Somerville Tattersalls Stakes last time out.
Bolger has already landed the Dewhurst this month with Parish Hall, his fourth victory in the race in six years.
The home team includes John Gosden’s Washington Singer winner Fencing as well as Godolphin’s Encke.
