Kilkenny CBS 5-11 Dublin North 3-9:KILKENNY CBS continued their push towards the semi-finals of the Leinster Colleges' Senior A hurling semi-finals with a dramatic late win over Dublin North in Russell Park, Blanchardstown, yesterday.
A superb comeback by the combined north Dublin side had seen the hosts grab a single-point lead with 10 minutes remaining.
However, two superb goals by Eddie Burke (his third of the game) and substitute Brian Kennedy saw CBS rattle in 2-2 in the final minutes as the Dubs were left to contemplate an early exit from the competition.
Two early goals by Burke and another for David Gaule helped Kilkenny grab a commanding 3-5 to 1-7 half-time lead.
Yet, as CBS grew profligate in the second period the unlucky Dublin side roared back with a brace of goals from the busy Michael Brennan to send the pre-match favourites into a tailspin.
But hurlers from the Marble City know just how to win a game and an eye-catching turn by substitute Brian Kennedy, who drilled home a fine goal after sublime work by Richard Doyle sealed the win for the Kilkenny side.
Kilkenny will now square off against St Brendan's of Birr for a place in the last four.
