Just when it appeared this dreary affair would be goalless at the interval, the visitors hit the front after Owen Heary stole in at the back post to send a bullet-like header to the net from Killian Brennan’s free.
Within minute of the start of the second half, some calamitous defending allowed Glen Cronin in to shot home for the second.
Robert Bayly, Aidan Downes and substitute Chris Fagan all had chances to make the margin of victory even more comprehensive but fortunately for Drogheda the scoreline remained respectable.
