Bohemians 3 St Patrick's Ath 0:SECOND HALF goals from Glen Crowe, Graham Carey and Jason Byrne eased champions Bohemians back to the top of the Premier Division table as St Patrick's Athletic finished with 10 men on Saturday.
The kick-off at Dalymount Park was delayed by five minutes after St Patrick’s substitute Glen Fitzpatrick suffered a seizure and collapsed during the warm-up. The striker was treated for about 10 minutes on the pitch and taken to hospital where he was later described as stable.
“They don’t know what brought it on, but obviously he’ll be having tests to see what it is,” said St Patrick’s manager Jeff Kenna after the game.
“Apparently he was walking off and he collapsed and started fitting. He was down for a long time and going blue. It was a big concern, but thankfully he’s fine.”
Crowe’s first goal of the season broke the deadlock three minutes after the interval when he arrived at the near post to score with a glancing header from Glen Cronin’s diagonal delivery.
The game was effectively up for St Patrick’s on the hour when they had defender Dave Partridge shown a straight red card after he directed abusive language towards referee’s assistant Mark Douglas.
Carey added the second goal on 79 minutes when skipping by Stuart Byrne to drill a powerful left-foot shot past Gary Rogers.
In-form Byrne got his fifth goal of the season to seal the points on 77 minutes, rifling home on the turn from Cronin’s pass.
Bohemians manager Pat Fenlon says he hopes to be able to keep 19-year-old Celtic trainee Carey on loan beyond the July agreement.
“I spoke to people at Celtic (on Friday) and told them that we were delighted with him,” said Fenlon.
“Obviously we’d like to keep him. But they’ve got to make the decision first.
“We have him until July. We’ve spoken to Celtic and I think we’ll be able to extend that.”
