Following the hugely successful Irish Seniors' Open Championship at Powerscourt the action now switches to the senior amateur players who compete for the Munster and Irish titles over the next two weeks.

The Munster Seniors' Chamionship, sponsored by the Portuguese Trade and Tourism Board, takes place at Adare Manor and Castletroy today and tomorrow and the national championship will be hosted by Clandeboye from may 31st to June 1st.

Dinny White (Moate) will defend his Munster title but he may not have matters all his own way this time around. Harry McKinney (European) winner of the Connacht and Ulster titles last year is keen to maintain his winning form. Among the chief challengers are Leinster chairman Albert Lee (Mullingar), Gerry O'Keeffe (Waterford) and Eddie Condren (Greystones).
