Sir, – What a joy it was to receive my first Christmas card from Ireland this year. Even more of a joy it was to see An Post only charged €0.82 to send it from Ireland. The stamps I used to mail my cards to Dublin last week cost me $1.75 (€1.28) each. An Post is obviously able to run a well-run service with low overheads and it doesn’t waste time overcharging people. Should this be a model for other State-owned companies to follow? – Yours, etc,
