What about the future of Cork’s skyline?

Sir, – Is it possible that Frank McDonald would write an article about the future of Cork’s skyline?

I've followed with interest the debate in The Irish Times to do with Johnny Ronan's proposed tower development in Dublin's docklands ("Johnny Ronan's docklands towers give 'two fingers' to Dublin", February 27th). Cork is facing, arguably, an even more dramatic imposition to its beautiful Lee valley vista. A proposal exists to erect a 34-storey skyscraper in the centre of the city at the old Port of Cork site. If this development goes ahead it will mean a major change to how Cork city looks. Yet so far there has been no debate of substance on the merits or otherwise of this proposed construction. Frank, Cork needs you. – Yours, etc,
