Sir, Reading Kitty Holland's report of the opening night of Translations at the Abbey Theatre (Weekend, August 3rd), I was surprised to note that I had travelled from Belfast to watch the performance of my wife, the "auburn haired beauty" Ali White. The incestuous nature of the theatrical world is often commented upon, but surely this additional suggestion of bigamy is unfair very much enjoyed Ali's performance. This enjoyment was further enhanced by the comforting knowledge that she is in fact my sister, and that my wife Christine was not treading the hallowed boards of our national theatre, but sitting in seat A4O beside me.
Please allow me to unmask Ali as my sister and not my wife, if only to ease the mind of her partner, a Brookside devotee. Anyone for ceasefire for Measure? - Yours, etc., Clarinda Park, Dun Laoghaire
