The Croke Park Affair

Sir, - The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has forced an embarrassing backdown over the unconditional granting of funds to the GAA

Sir, - The Tanaiste, Mary Harney, has forced an embarrassing backdown over the unconditional granting of funds to the GAA. An easy win. As regards the GAA, it should vote in favour of making their grounds available for other sports for the right reasons, and not because it is short of cash. The real debate should be about the Taoiseach's attempts to buy support for Stadium Ireland. Ms. Harney should focus on why the money is being offered, and not on what further demands the Government can attach to the cheque for £60 million. - Yours, etc.,

Sean Molloy, Cornelscourt, Co Dublin.
