Madam, - What on earth was the Taoiseach doing in Moscow celebrating VE day? Has he forgotten our history? This State remained scrupulously neutral during the second World War. De Valera even drew the Allies' condemnation when he expressed condolences on the death of Chancellor Hitler. I suspect it was just another photo-opportunity that Bertie Ahern could not let pass.

Obviously for Fianna Fáil neutrality means supporting the side that eventually wins. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - In view of Ireland's unique contribution to the second World War (and our subsequent treatment of Irish men and women who fought on the Allied side), surely it would be more appropriate for the Taoiseach to be commemorating the 60th anniversary of his predecessor's offering of condolences on the death of Herr Hitler. - Yours, etc,
