Storms, bins and waste

Sir, – The area I live in is littered with household rubbish in the wake of Storm Brendan all because privately owned wheelie bins won’t stay shut. County council trucks are sent out to vacuum up the household mess.

Many bin-clip solutions exist already and if the Government required or subsidised the mandatory installation of them, it would still cost less than the money spent chasing wind-blown waste after every storm. Over to you, Minister. – Yours, etc,

Sir, – More than one million tonnes of edible and nutritious food end up in Irish rubbish bins every year.

Waste not, want not. – Yours, etc,
