Sir, - As an ordinary citizen in this here Republic, I have to take issue with the publication of a letter such as that from David Frazer (October 5th).

That comments so repugnant to a significant portion of our population can appear in our national press is surely unacceptable, and exposes the inherent anti-other bias in the media generally..

As a non-Christian and a non-Muslim, but as someone who is familiar with both the Bible and the Koran, I discern very little difference in the spirit and essence of their messages, essentially love and brotherhood.

Mr Frazer's comments do little to advance his own cause, are of no value to his co-religionists, and are a disservice to religion in general. The Christianity of Jesus Christ is much more appealing, with its message to "love thy neighbour as thyself". - Yours, etc.,
