Madam, - Further to recent proposals to reduce traffic congestion on the M50 toll-bridge by charging double one way only, there may be a better alternative. What about charging double for the first half of the day (up to 1.30pm, say), and allowing free passage thereafter?
There is less chance of drivers taking a longer alternative route to avoid the toll, given that people are under more time pressure in the mornings, and traffic congestion is always worse in the afternoons, in both directions.
It would be very easy to implement this system for a trial period. So what about it? - Yours, etc,
