Madam, – It appears that Gerry Adams, prohibited from resigning, is unwilling to disqualify himself from membership of the House of Commons by accepting an office of benefit under the Crown. There are other means of disqualifying oneself, including to be declared bankrupt, certified insane, ordained as a Church of England clergyman or elevated to the peerage.
