A chara, - Robin Bury of the Reform Movement accuses me of using a "threatening tone" (April 19th) because I oppose the bigotry and sectarianism of the Orange Order. He equates Orangeism with "minority traditions in this State". Active racism is another minority tradition in this state. Does Mr Bury want that to be immune to criticism as well?

Perhaps Mr Bury has fallen for the sectarian myth, perpetrated by the Orangemen, which tries to equate the terms "Protestant" and "British". If so, it is an insult to all those who refuse to have their nationality defined by their religion.

In your edition of April 26th I see a letter from the Unionist Party assembly member for Fermanagh South Tyrone, Sam Foster. He writes that the Orange Order is no longer welcome as a constituent part of the Unionist Party. Is Mr Bury going to fire off a missive from Military Road, Killiney accusing Sam Foster of using a "threatening tone" as well? - Is mise,
