One tree at a time

Sir, – A correspondent suggests that we plant a native species of tree on the plot of every new house (Letters, November 12th). It is an admirable idea, but in my case, my plot is so small that after planting the tree and allowing for the appropriate amount of space for it to grow, the only house I could build on the site would be a tree house. Is there any possibility that bonsai trees could be declared native?

– Yours, etc,

PAVEL MARIANSKI,

Dungarvan, Co Waterford.
