On the decline in grammar

Sir, – Having resigned myself, however reluctantly, to the terminal decline of the English adverb, while wishing all good people well, I am confronted with the death of the past participle and related conditionals and cannot remain silent.

Not a day passes without the dreaded “would not have went” or “would have knew” haunting the national airwaves from the mouths of professional journalists. Mind you, there is a parallel revival in “I done” and “I seen”!

Who decided to remove grammar from the curriculum and who will decide to reinstate it? – Yours, etc,
