Nun found not guilty of indecent assault

Sir, – Judge Donogh McDonagh, instructed a jury to find Sr Mary Theresa Grogan not guilty on all charges of indecent assault brought against her by seven complainants (Home News, December 1st). The judge took the decision because evidence given by some witnesses was “weak in certain aspects and tenuous in others.” I believe that if Sister Mary Theresa Grogan had been found guilty, the story would have made banner headlines in all of the newspapers and other media outlets. In fact, none of the three broadsheets newspapers carried the verdict on their front pages on December 1st.

The politically correct mandarins in this country assure us that there isn’t any anti-Catholic bias in the Irish media. The way the media dealt with the outcome of this trial would indicate that it is both widespread and deep-seated. – Yours, etc,
