Fluster-free shopping

Sir, – Róisín Ingle's friend gets flustered at the supermarket checkout when sorting his purchases into bags ("We feel the same inside, but to the checkout woman we're the old folk", Life, May 18th). There is no need. I say this with the authority of a true "aul fella" of 73. If he's using the metal trolley, he can return the shopping, when scanned, back to the trolley. There is a packing area at the window, or pack back at your car. Better still, buy a few of those folding plastic boxes at said supermarket and you can pack and organise at your car to your heart's content. Happy shopping! – Yours, etc,
