Booing at Lansdowne

Madam, - E.F. Fanning (May 9th) dismisses the booing of Tore Andre Flo as being "part and parcel of football". Who does s/he think s/he's kidding? At many matches over many years, the only booing of opposition players I have heard was at a player who brought down one ours or at current or former Rangers players. It is not, as E.F. Fanning writes, "simply a matter of footballing rivalry". At the Ireland-Scotland match a few years ago I heard Rangers players called "Protestant bastards" - and not by one or two "fans".

Like a previous correspondent, I too sat beside a father and child who booed. Shame! - Yours, etc.
