A €130,000 light for the Central Bank

Sir, – The Central Bank sees fit to spend €130,000 (excluding VAT) on a light sculpture for its new €140 million offices. Good luck to artist Niamh Barry, but I wonder who decided to spend such an obscene amount of taxpayers’ money in light of some of our current woes such as homelessness, waiting lists for operations, lack of funding for carers, etc? That money could have been spent a lot better. – Yours, etc,

CHARLIE NEVILLE,
