Sir, – I have been increasingly puzzled over the last couple of weeks with The Irish Times’ coverage of the frivolous, inconsequential non-story of Jessie Buckley’s opinion on cats.

It is amazing to me that, with all the serious and relevant stories in the news at the moment, you should devote column inches to this particular facet of anyone’s private life.

My cat, however, seems enthralled. – Yours, etc,
