Sir, – With the trend of large corporate tax takes continuing to swell Government coffers, and with all the proposed plans for what to do with the cash, why is there no talk anywhere of making some effort to significantly reduce the national debt?
We continue to hand over billions every year to service this burden; we’re like a family permanently living on the never-never with no intention of paying off debt or at least trying to reduce it.
Whenever individuals come into unexpected extra cash, the sound advice from all financial advisers is to pay off your loans first before making great plans on what to do with the money.
No economy booms forever – as we have learned to our cost – and unless we start to act somewhat responsibly, we may regret making short-time financial hay while basking in borrowed sunshine. – Yours, etc,
