Sir, – Tony Wool’s observation (Letters, May 8th) of a van logo, “We can fix the things your husband repaired”, reminded me of my own domestic shortcomings. I recently answered the door to a man from the gas company, looking to read our gas meter. Unaware of its location, I pretended to look until I gave up and called to my wife, asking her where it was. “We don’t have gas” was the exasperated response, which was only beaten in its disdain by the gas man not uttering a word, simply looking at me, shaking his head and walking off. At least now I know my own limitations. – Yours, etc,
