Sir, – I felt very disheartened to notice no mention of Austin O’Connor’s fantastic win at Maryland 5 Star in any Irish national paper.
It was the first win at this level of eventing for an Irish competitor since 1965. The horse industry contributes nearly €2.5 billion to our economy, so surely this historic victory is worthy of even a small mention amidst all the other, endless sport chatter. – Yours, etc,
