Sir, – In response to the welcome increase in speeding fines, they are nevertheless insufficient (“Fines for range of road-safety offences including speeding to double from midnight”, News, October 26th).
I cycle daily and continually see how speeding is endemic and goes unpunished.
Speeding, in all zones, must become unacceptable.
Public reporting of speeding and dangerous driving must be encouraged and facilitated and fines, and penalties need to be severe and to be enforced by traffic police in tandem with digital measures in areas other than motorways. – Yours, etc,
