Yesterday, The Irish Times reported that Archbishop Diarmuid Martin of Dublin had “denied reports that money from the archdiocese’s general fund was being used to compensate abuse victims”.
In fact, Archbishop Martin denied reports that money contained in the general fund “which originated from donations from parishes” had been used to compensate such victims.
The archbishop has reiterated “that funds donated by parishes to the general fund have not been used to cover compensation of child abuse cases”.
