Moscow - President Boris Yeltsin refused yesterday to sign a bill on minority religions in Russia whose detractors said it infringed the rights of those who observed other religions, the Russian presidency announced.

The bill has already been approved by both houses of parliament. Mr Yeltsin sent the bill back to parliament with "proposals to improve the text", a Kremlin spokesman said. - (AFP)
