Doctors said Mr Yavlinsky's condition was improving and his life was not in imminent danger, the news agency reported.

The opposition leader this month played a key role in to steering the country out of political crisis by proposing Prime Minister Yevgeny Primakov's candidacy to lead Russia's cabinet.
