Copenhagen - More than 6,000 Danes stopped work yesterday in a defiant show of protest at a law hastily passed by parliament which last week broke an 11-day strike for more paid holidays. The participants risked fines for breaking the new law, which has made such strikes illegal since Friday. Despite the widespread industrial action, however, only 300 strikers turned up for a demonstration in front of Copenhagen's parliament building, according to police.
